Major Types of Lube Oil Filters

  • Primary or Full-Flow Oil Filter – It is a common type of filter. It cleans and removes contaminants from the oil and keeps maintaining temperature when cold starts. This full-flow design allows oil to move freely in the engine with sufficient lubricants for optimal performance.
  • Cartridge Oil Filter – It is friendly and economical to the environment. This filter is available with two variants one is fibre and another is metal. Fiber filters are more often used due to recycling.
  • By-Pass Oil Filter – This type of filter works alongside a full-flow filter to provide additional support. It is used to purify thin and small particles of the engine oil. And protect engine parts to improve the life of motor oil.
  • Spin-On Filters – This type of filter contains a steel canister hosing paper element. It is easily replaced and is usually utilized on automotive engines and industrial engines.
  • Magnetic Filters – The magnets are used to remove metallic particles from the motor oil. This filter is not required for replacements only regular cleaning particles form oil.
